OSS winter 2007 Novice / expert vote
« on: June 12, 2007, 01:11 AM »
Points to remember.
Will having a novice class encourage new faces into the OSS

Will having expert class really change anything?

Can the points be done fairly if we mix the two classes?

Will it cause arguments if someone sangbags the novice class

The OSS rocks,  :daumenhoch:

I would say one class all levels

looking at the two Alans OS meets at bournemouth i went to
the R'sed  / expert class had max 6 riders both years
& the not R'sed / novice had 20 + each time
cheers Kev

I thought the whole point of this old school series was for a load of old boys getting back on bikes we rode some 20 yrs ago and having a good laugh, the fact that we are all still as competitive as we were back then is great, we are all getting fitter , and everybody is getting better and better with each race and as our confidence grows . The issues  over separate points, do we run novice and expert personally I think is immaterial  unless you all think this series is about the winning.

With regards to attracting new riders, yes we should be encouraging new riders into the series but having two classes is possibly not the way forward after all i think racing guys that are a little bit quicker personally spurs on other riders to be that bit quicker. The other point to make is that this Series has been a real success and i have personally enjoyed every minute of it , made some wicked friends , laughed my nuts off , fallen off a few times but hey thats racing , and to me thats what  this old school series is all about ...........

OLD SCHOOL BOYS , ON OLD SCHOOL TOYS , DOING WHAT WE LOVE - PEACE.................

p.s thought id add the peace because I've always wanted to say that at the end of something meaningful......

 Fiola speaks wisely.....
I'd never really raced before this series, and to be bundled in with riders with skills is a sure fire way to improve.Everyone is there to take part and enjoy.A competitive spirit does come out,and that's good..it's a race.Getting caught up in classes misses the point. If the newbies get recognized somehow that's nice, but getting up to the gate and finishing in one piece is much more of an achievement.
Loving it....last place or wherever... :daumenhoch:

I think we should do a separate league system, but run both together.

Top half (Expert) and bottom half (Novice). that way it gives something to aim for if you are in the bottom half. It would be determined after a full years racing who is in what category.

In the second year the bottom 4 of Expert are relegated to Novice and the top 4 are promoted to Expert.

Gotta say Jim  ??? dont quite get that , all you seem to be doing there is creating a double points system within one class. The only way that would work is if you then started running seperate races novice and expert otherwise whats the point. What next numbered ranking with plates  like 1x- for expert and 1n for novice , to me its simple WE ALL LOVE RACING SO LETS RACE and not get bogged down in the complexity of ranking .........no soap box here mate just friendly debate by someone who wants the series to progress to bigger things , me personally cant see what splitting the class would achieve. When i joined the OSSS the best part of it was everybody was out there to ride , relive old times and have a laugh , experience wasn't in the criteria ,why is it so important now?

OLD SCHOOL BOYS , ON OLD SCHOOL TOYS , DOIN WHAT WE LOVE..........PEACE  :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

see cant stop saying that nowhttp://

Actually mate, gotta say. You are right.

Why make it more complex, when it works already!  :uglystupid2:

I agree with you lot. Besides, isn't "Old School Expert" something of a contradiction in terms?

You know what they say. If it ain't broke............
