Snap goes the frame (Apollo BMX)
« on: July 28, 2009, 02:58 PM »
Was at the BMX track in Wrexham on Thursday last week, there was a lad there about 15 years old riding nicely but no gloves or lid. Next thing he lands hard after clearing a double and whallop - big graze down the face and his hands were very badly grazed and pissing blood.

I helped him off the track he was shaking with shock but alive and ok, so a call to him mum and he was on his way to A&E.

Lesson here is always wear a lid and gloves as you just cant predict what is going to happen, oh and dont buy cheap BMX's from halfrauds.

and what does that give you? A frame that's had the scientific testing of some bloke riding a prototype for a few months

Not all, just that some of these bikes are mere toys,BMX style bikes if you like, good for general cycling but not really for anything else.

I think the Apollo bikes from Halfords even come with a warning that says something like "not suitable for tricks or BMX use" or something like that, its a disclaimer to cover their arse for sure.

Seen for myself 2 of those Ripeprs snap in the same place. The later ones seem much stronger,so looks like SE did improve them a lot.

From that video, the poor bastard is lying on the ground, after possibly being impaled by part of his bike, and the PA is commenting on it not being a good advert for GT bikes  :LolLolLolLol:

The poor lad hasnt even moved, but hey, those GT bikes eh ?

Then one of the other riders picks the front end of the bike up, and plays to the crowd as if he is riding it  :2funny:

Sympathy, its overated  :LolLolLolLol:

The bloke lying on the ground missed the 1st moto due to being late.

He hadn't had any practice on the track so he overshot his landing.

The other rider who picks up the front end of his bike and plays to the crowd is a Kid, infact its his kid!!
