MONGOOSE ERIC RUPE 87 Vs ERIC RUPE 88 Vs MONGOOSE PRO CLASS 83

Just thought i would show the difference between Mongoose Eric Rupe 87 F+F and Mongoose Pro Class 83 F+F in pics. When you look at the Mongoose frames they look almost the same but close up there are quiet alot of differences. Thought it would be best to see the differences in pics than try to explain in words, enjoy.

PS Is there anyone who can help me get the pro class re-chromed, thanks

Should be exactly the same except for the rear brake bridge

Wow!, I'd love a goose they do come round pretty cheap if you buy as frame and forks, Stodgy is selling a Cali for £85! My kinda price range! but an MK bike is what i need at the mo so the 'Goose dream will have to wait to the Winter...

What does the TT length come in at on the Rupe then jim ? Looks like it's pushing for 20" or so

19.5 for the Rupe, 18.5 for the Pro Class

From the outside the geometry is very similar mate but the pro-class is a lot lighter due to it's thin-wall tubing. There are some suttle differences to help spot the difference

I suppose the best ways to spot an Eric Rupe are 



1) Different brake bridge, only like that on 86 rupes onwards upto 1989. 1985 Eric Rupes have the same brake bridge as the pro class in the pic, look for the other difference's on these frames 




2) Thick top tube the same thickness as the down tube. 




3) 19.5 inch TT length, all other goose models are 18.5 inch top tube 




4) The seat tube is alot taller on the rupe than any other mongoose model

OK Guys the plot thickens so bare with me, fooking mongoose 

I just got this 1988 Mongoose Eric Rupe although its stickerd as an 86. Putting the frames together ive noticed some slight differences to the 87 Mongoose Eric Rupe model i have. 

First difference is the rear brake bridge is slightly lower on the 88 model. Second difference is the seat tube stick's out about 1cm further on the 88 model as well. Also the 88 model didn't come with a metal head badge. I was wondering if other people with these F+F could measure their's and see what measurements are, thanks dudes

The 1982 frames seem to be the only ones to sport this type of brake bridge...here is an '83 on the left and a '82 on the right.  (Pro Class)

Although you can find some 1982's with all circles or ovals...as pictured above by my other 1982 Pro Class.
