preview of my new bike
« on: June 02, 2009, 05:20 PM »
S&M LTF, copper plated.  I am waiting until after the "legends of freestyle" show this Saturday to build it up.  The colour scheme will be copper, gun metal blue, and polished aluminum.  My scale at home wouldn't weigh the frame alone so I had to weigh myself, then myself with the frame.  Before plating-4.4lbs, after plating-4.4lbs?  The scale probably isn't very accurate but really what is a few grams between friends ;)

I haven't been this excited about a new bike in a long, long time.

I bought this frame from my local bike shop for a great price.  After I crashed and bent my Blacklightning frame last year I tried riding a few other bikes and found Ron Plumlee's LTF to my liking so I just ordered one raw and had it plated.  I like the copper plating so much I had to have another but didn't have the heart to ask Kevin for another freebie, the plating alone cost over $200.  The BL frame still rides great, but psychologically having a bent bike bothers me, and it isn't even bent very bad.

Pete-is Steve Blackey doing the webcast or is it someone else?  I haven't heard what address it will be shown on otherwise I would have posted it.  It should be a good show with the riders that are attending.  Voelker was doing 10' airs and 540's 6' out two weeks ago wearing only shorts and shoes

wait till you see the gun metal blue :smitten:  I've only finished the forks so far, the bars, cranks and seat post are still on my bike and I haven't bothered to take them off, strip them and re-finish.  For those of you that have guns that are blued, you'll know what it looks like.  If you don't have a blued gun, it looks kind of like black chrome but with a blue-ish tint.  I'll take some snaps of the forks tonight.

Here are a couple of pics of my new forks with the gun metal blue finish.  Bit difficult to capture the blue tint.  Bars, forks, cranks and seat post will have this finish.

I used Pacific Plating here in San Diego, if you are in the UK it might not help you much.  If you are still interested I can dig up an address and phone number for you, they do quality work.
