Buying from the U.S
« on: March 03, 2008, 06:40 PM »
How confident is everyone on this ??????????

I'm after some flights (twin pinch) or some Profiles. Sadly the price of true old school stuff is frightening so have to go for these i'm afraid.

I've personally never bought from the USA, I've read a few horror stories on here about buying from there but should i be that worried about it. Obviously there are some good uns over there but exactly how confident are you when you do actually buy an item from abroad??????
One build a year, the only way to get it right. No rushing involved.

Do NOT use Amcycle as I have lost a set of cranks and a rim purchased from them in the last 6 months  :2gunsfiring_v1:

Same as anything really. If using ebay, check feedback (and that it's for similar stuff - not someone with 100% feedback for baseball cards suddenly selling top range electronics!), allow for custom fees/tax/duty then if you don't get stung it's a bonus.

I used amcycle for my twin bolts and they were fine.

I have bought loads from the us, in fact approx 70% of what i buy comes from ebay.com. I always find it worthwhile contacting the seller even if they show international shipping before bidding to get some kind of response. If you get some useless short shrift bollox then its risky but a lot of them are really helpful. Feedback is a reasonable indicator or check out the ebay seller threads on bmx museum or the other us sites for persistent ofenders. I have and syill do use ebay.com regularly

They sent me what I thought were two tracking numbers for 2 rims (why not pack and send them together???)

when only one showed up I contacted USPS and they said they were numbers generated when someone INTENDS to send stuff and has arranged for a pickup and are in no way a tracking number

 :) DINGO :)

if ya use amcycle, pay the extra couple of quid for the insurance and your sorted, had loads off em but did not recieve a set of flights once, they compensated me by offering a huge discount on another set but if i was insured i would have got another set sent out no probs.

i really only buy from the US now, too many bargains to be had :daumenhoch:
