OLD SCHOOL SERIES WINTER 2007
« on: June 10, 2007, 02:19 PM »
Ok Guys, We are coming to the last few races of the Summer series, and judging by the support and sucess of the Summer races, we have decided to start putting together the details for a winter series.
We are also toying with the idea of running two OS classes, sort of like a beginner class for racers who are not ready to mix with the likes of Jason Harvey, Sam Wonfor and Russ Stainer. And an expert class for those of us who feel confident enough to fall off in style.

We will try not to change too much else as I think it works well as it is, but please add comments and suggestions on this thread.

There will be a small charge, but again not for profit, but I would like to get proper OS race shirts for the winter, as well as plates for the top 25 riders. We will try and get a quote for the shirts before we can tell you how much..

Please put your names on this thread, closing date for entries is ages away but it would be nice to get an idea of numbers to see if we can get a discount on the race shirts. :daumenhoch:

The OSS Rocks, lets make it the biggest and best in the world.... :4_17_5:

I'll stay as it is, mixing with the big boys. So stick me down for Expert.

Just a thought fellas, how about we keep things as they are but run expert and novice points seperatley abit like the superbikes and touring cars so as to keep the numbers up so we dont end up with 3/4 man gates, just a thought. ???

Go on, put me down for the Novice.  The horsey season slows down in Winter so should be able to attend most if not all the races, would that be ok?

;) ;) ;)  Its a big yes from me , great idea about breaking in newcomers gently however got to say the way that all the riders in the series have improved this season in such a short space of time myself included it wouldn't be long before most newcomers were rubbin knobblys on the back of our comp 3's. Looking forward to it already and im hoping to drop a dress size before the shirts are done :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:http://

I'm aiming to race in the entire series.

On a personal note I'd keep it as it is with all riders in together as i think it will improve riders abilities quicker. But seperate classes from a points point of view is a good idea.

Just a shame we won't be able to race at Hersden during the winter :(

Better stick me down as a novice though because I don't think I'd make the end of the race as all the tracks are so big. :LolLolLolLol:

Tony, they tried to split the groups in the old Alan's old school series and it didn't work because you had to many ringers going into the lower group and mugging people off. It really didn't work.

Keep it to one group and let the lower class riders show their stuff in the B-C-D-E etc finals.

Perhaps you could decide who goes in expert and novice by their points  they got from races in the summer series, rather than the riders themselves deciding.    Then any newcomers you can decide Ratty by their previous experience :)

They have a similar thing in the horsey competitions, if you get too many points, you HAVE to compete in the next level up.  Stops people 'stealing' the number one spots by competing in lower levels with superior horses.

No dates or tracks have or can be decided yet, and probably wont until the regions decide on their race calender, Last winter we raced at club events which didnt clash with regionals and im sure we will do the same this year :daumenhoch:

Russ, you are more than welcome to pop down south for any meets, I know you will love it :daumenhoch:
And if anyone else wants to race at any OSS meets olease just turn up, the only thing will be your points wont count, but dont let that stop you :daumenhoch:

Matt, we would love to do this nationally, the trouble we have is a lot of our riders are very southern, ie; a 2 hour drive up to Milton Keynes. I will have a chat an see if the worst affected will make the journey, I am up for it :daumenhoch:

put me in tone

im happy either way ie novice n expert
i do believe in the early adhoc races we did ie hayes ,daggers, braintree
at the beginning of this year we were all novices again,
but i didnt take long to see who was who ;)

i can agree with sam aswell
coz i dont wanna see a weak gate ie 3 or 4 men to an 8 gate

also i reckon leave as is
it aint broke so dont fix it

i cant wait to be totally honest and i,d love to race hayes himilaya,s again
and i,ve still gotta master braintree and seeing as daggers is me back yard ;D
there,s 3 tracks i hope will feature in OSWS

plus the fact of re gaining the winter #1 :coolsmiley:
