haro master
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:02 PM »
A friend just brought me one of his finds.  It is a Haro Master with chevron stamps in the headtube gussett and the gussett near the bottom bracket.  Serial number is 85052251.  Is this USA or UK made?  made in may have 85?  If I were to buy it how much would I spend for a very good deal?

it has a gt stem and gt 1 piece cranks.  he also had an 87 performer with gt bars, stem, and three piece cranks.  but I don't really know whats good and what isn't.  This guy finds all kinds of old bikes.  He just sold an gt xl and a gt pit bike.  He is looking for the haro sport prototype frame for me ;D

I',m no expert  :D but £150 for a complete 85 master! Man I'll take 2  :) £150 for a good nick f&f would be ok with me.

I've found the green master is generally the cheapest, followed by white then the chrome being the most pricey.

Biagio did/may have a nice chrome 85 f&f at £399!

Regardless of colour, if its shabby you'll have to budget for around £60/70 to paint it plus another £30 for new decals.

look great though when there done, mine is nearly finished and I'm well chuffed.

if its one of them rubbish gt stems that are a similar shape to a tuf neck and has 5 little dimples around the stem bolt, then i'll do you a huge favour and take it off your hands  :D

the master is a better bet than the performer, try n negotiate for the 3 peice cranks to go with the master:daumenhoch:

Thanks for the info guys, I may offer the guy $50 for the master with the parts he has on it to see what he says.  I'll check on that gt stem for ya.  I suppose next time I should just take some pics and post them. :crazy2:

I passed on a Gen 1 torker-made 84 sport for $350, 84 performer and a few others just because I don't have time or money to devote to actually building an old school bike, but if I can get a deal that I am happy with I will buy it.

Adam Jung, flatlander from Hawaii, is the guy in my avatar.

p.s. the master was not complete, F+F, stem, bars, cranks and front sprocket only.
