Mid-life crisis in Manchester
« on: December 13, 2017, 09:55 AM »
Now then guys.

Phil here from Manchester. 38 going on 13.

Had BMXs when I was young, ranging from my first "freestyler" at 6 with a split V shaped top tube, through some Mongoose, GTs and finally a Standard Shorty back in 1998 if I remember rightly. Although I preferred my Interceptor out of them all. It felt like a nice light frame with a long tob tube, but adding pegs and gyro etc made it a great street bike. Passed my driving test, found booze and women and left the bikes.

7 years ago I decided to give it another go after splitting with the ex and having a lot of time on my hands. I bought this Mongoose Subject

Rode it a few times, then met the wife. Again, the bike took a back seat and I ended it passing it on to my step son, who promptly got bored of how heavy it was and sold it to his mate. Nice.

So, here we are in 2017. I work 9-5 only 8 miles from home and have weekends to myself as the other half works them, so decided to have another bash. I've just picked up another Mongoose on eBay (picking it up this week) for the princely sum of £17

This can ease me back into it and then I can look at getting a better frame, rims, forks. You know the drill. Although I am mid-school at heart, so want to keep to my roots with things like Haro kneesavers and ACS Boa calipers etc.
