Phil Woods California highway patrol pedals

Picked these up today for £8 

They are silky smooth sealed bearing and pretty rare. Planning to mod them slightly for bmx use

Apparently they were the first pedal to receive formal approval by the California Highway Patrol. Hence the chp logo. One pedal has damage to the reflector area so the plan is to tidy it up and shape the good pedal the same. Insert some pedal pins on the top edge and cut some classic pedal V slots in the leading edge under Phil's signature

tbf they don't look all that grippy

...they look like pan am age seat buckles or os nasa design

Just drill some holes in and screw some self tappers through. Job done! Or araldite some carpet tacks on to them. Nice & grippy

That's what my dad did to my first pair of shimano dx when the pins wore. fooking lunatic. Knackered my shoes and my tibias.

These had toe straps on originally, which explains the apparent lack of grippy bits.
