How can you tell the difference between ...............................
.................... original 80s Landing Gear and the reissue LGs that Alans BMX were selling a few years back?   :-\ :daumenhoch:

Think reissues were only available in Chrome.  :-\

quote from Brian Hays...

'The protos for Landing Gear started in 1979. They were released in 1980. For a very short time, there were no holes in the dropouts. They soon went to three holes in the dropouts through 1985 which encompasses all the unstamped 20" and the vertical stamped 20". In 86, SE went to a horizontal stamp, two holes and a much thicker dropout. All the 20" forks remained this way into the late 90's. When SE reappeared with the 2003 line, the 20" forks had no holes in them again BUT they still used the std horizontal stamp. Since then SE has used both the 2 hole and solid dropouts on 20" forks. '

first of all i believe the alans reissues were(/are?) the same as the prokchop reissues from 2010, and that both of these are stamped and have 4mm drops. the og LGs after 81/82 had about 3mm drops (1/8"; early landing gears even thinner).

edit:

i'm guessing , but i'd say no, as BRIAN HAYS says:
"In 94 or so they went to the 1 1/8" threadless design" :slayer:

I'd say 86 up to late 90s going on what Brian posted

2 holes, thick dropouts...

Or maybe they are much more recent!

some more "86ers"

and if cyclepsych0 ere is right about this thick dropped forks being "original, U.S.-made, Landing Gears. Made from '95 - '99..cool", then i could imagine a set of 86-94ers to have drops as thick as the ones on the ebay set you posted, too. (edit: the missing link http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=448567  :crazy2:)

end of guesses, time for the forked folks to errm ....confirm :LolLolLolLol:
