A rear brake ideal for wheelies ?
« on: March 01, 2014, 10:10 AM »
When doing an old school wheelie on a bike fitted with a coaster brake does it give you enough control ? compared to a standard brake.
I've never tried a wheelie with a coaster, maybe some of you guys who had freestyle bikes around 84- 88 or earlier could shed some light on it but i know some of the freestyle bikes were fitted with both :daumenhoch:

I love Wheelies...  :smitten:

My mates BMX had a coaster brake, i could never get used to it...
I think the rim brake gives far better control... :daumenhoch:

I remember him trying to bunny hop up this kerb and hit the coaster and he went straight over the bars...

Gave himself a nasty face... :teef:

Thanks for the feedback  :daumenhoch: I did have a coaster way back in 1980 and it was removed after It caused shin slap from a rat trap (still got the scar)
It's just the bike i'm building would look cleaner and easier to build with a coaster but if it doesn't do the job it's going to be a waste of time.
Always thought if they were fitted to anything other than a shopping bike they were dangerous.

When I did my injury I jumped off a high kerb and it locked the rear wheel in mid air , when I landed my left foot slipped off the pedal and my right leg spun the crank backwards one revolution into my left shin, my shin has grown with a slight bump.
I'm sure I fractured it as I did plenty of  :'(
