Any B'ham riders able to make it to a probably boring meeting?
Not really selling it am I?
Copy of a Facebook post, regarding building a pump track in B'ham.
Hi, all,
A new year is on us and Stirchley Pumptrack needs your help! As some of you are aware we've been working on getting the Pumptrack (in Hazelwell Park) off the ground for almost a year, now. We're still determined to provide the first open access pumptrack in Birmingham here in Stirchley!
We were advised that the wheels of local government turn slowly but we had no idea it would be quite this painful.
We now have a site assessment and detailed plans along with costings and drawings. We know that funding is available from a variety of sources and we have a contractor all lined up. If you combine all this with growing interest both locally and nationally you would have expected groundworks to have started by now.
Despite verbal enthusiasm from various branches of the Council, we now need them to formally support us in order to make further progress. We need to show the Council the extent to which the community backs the project. Please come and add your voice at the Bournville Ward Committee Meeting at6.30 p.m. on Tues 28th Jan at the Stirchley Indoor Bowls Centre (opposite Stirchley Community Church).
A ward committee meeting allows general members of the public like us to bring matters of concern or interest to the attention of our local councillors. We are aware that these meetings can be a little on the dry side so in light of this we propose that having made a brief representation to the councillors we retire to the more convivial British Oak pub to discuss how we're going to make this pumptrack happen in 2014!
Your presence and enthusiasm on the night will be much appreciated.
Many thanks and see you there,
