Redline Seat Info Please
« on: July 13, 2006, 10:33 AM »
Thought I put up a post about this yesterday and it dissapeared.

What does anyone know about this seat. It was on my NOS PL24 when I bought it, but can't say that I have seen any others. The bars that were on the bike were a bit curious, bigass cow horns, not PL24 bars so I was wondering whether the seat got changed as well.

That's an Elina Flyte Tech isn't it. I had a pair of those bars, they actually have ST Series stamped on them. Sold them for a good price on the bay, despite an iffy re-chrome.

San what you have there is a later generation seat than your PL24, still very good - would have been standard on the mid 85ish models I think??

Here's an example of the earlier ones:

And here's a nice rare example:

Thanks Dan. You know what, I have never even bothered to check the age of my PL24. How do the serial numbers work ? Looking at that ST20, does the C stand for a 83, or does the numbers dictate the year ?

Here you go San:

Redline Serial Dates

81-RA
82-RB
83-RC
84-RD
85-RE

Mine is RC 11335 - 1983

You know I put that package up on ebay about this time last year and it only reach about £230 or something (reserve not met)

Now when I think about it I am so glad it didn't make the reserve, as its still one one if not my favorite bikes.
