T1 skatepark
« on: November 13, 2011, 04:41 PM »
couldn't these half witted muggy c**ts come up with their own fooking name? :LolLolLolLol:

it's a shady fooking piss take,

i'm sorry,

type "t1 bmx" into google and see what comes up,

http://www.23mag.com/com/t1/t1.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrible_One

http://video.mpora.com/watch/rrZr2UxKP/

http://bmx.transworld.net/1000111269/videos/t1s-summer-of-shred-jam-video/

T1 is a well respected and loved bmx company started by 2 of the greatest riders ever to turn a pedal in anger,

this is T1

at first i just passed it off as the owners having fook all in the way of originality,

it pisses me off every time i see it now though,

fook it,

i'm going to open a skatepark and call it "S&M skatepark"

that'll be alright wont it?

i'll piggyfookingback on their hard earned reputation and success.......

i'd accept that rob, at a push, i would...

but

Terrible 1
Terminal 1

its always going to get abbreviated to  "T1 skatepark"

did these fookers know they were taking the piss when they named it?

did they not even have the fooking sense to google it to check?

Point taken.

I have no idea mate to be honest. But as I generally support people bold enough to open a skatepark in this country I'm going to say it was done in 'innocent ignorance'  ;)

Must watch out for those fence splinters in my arse......

It's worth a trip to ride another indoor park, show a bit of support etc.

But.....

It's not the greatest park I have to say. It's laid out a bit oddly and doesn't have much flow.

Sorry, I feel like I'm kicking a puppy saying it.

Regardless of that, I have respect for the owners for making it happen.

I think their heart is in the right place and their business model is good.

I'm usually very critical of the cafe & welfare aspect of skateparks generally and this place has spent a few quid in those areas which is nice. As we all know, there's good profit in food & drink and hopefully it'll help the coffers a good bit.

We're not talking sk8&ride good, but decent enough for a change.

There's also enough gaps in the layout that the park could be changed/developed in the future for very reasonable costs. I don't know if this was intentional, but it's a good thing for sure.

all sounds good,
and good luck to them tbh,

if we and they could stop referring to it as "T1"

would be a massive help to their cause,

Terrible One has a huge following and vast respect in bmx,

best not to piss their fanbase off too much eh?

Terminal one (melton) is made on an old air strip, hence the name, they were very aware early on that the T1 connection would be made and made a positive marketing/advertising attempt to avoid confusion, but its only down to customers abbreviation that it is known as T1, as is the one at Heathrow, and I probably wont ever get them mixed up.

Its a back street, country town park that is doing something positive, they could call it ROM for me, I know its not.

I wouldn't want to see it fail over a naming issue, its hardly `passing off' is it?

Check the website & Facebook... they make no reference to T1... people just tend to write T1 to save time.

For someone to get off the arse and take a risk on setting up a new business venture in the current economic climate has balls, and deserves some credit and support. That it is an indoor Skate / BMX Ramp Complex is even more commendable, on this site if no where else.

I am genuinely surprised at the cynicism.

I don't want to speak for Joe, but I suspect this is a case of "know your roots" as much as anything else.

I'm not sure if cynicism is the right word.

are you fookers daft in the head? :LolLolLolLol:

take the time to  read the fooking comments at least,

ffs, i said it was commendable that they'd gone to the effort of opening the park,
i even said it was mildly ok that they'd called it Terminal 1,

my gripe was with folks referring to it as T1,

"nothing positive" to say rob?

read through my posts mate, they're at least 50/50,

but dont piss in my bucket and tell me its raining,

all i do is say what i think,
surely you can see the funny side of it!

would you rather i just lined up with the rest of the "nice bike mate" crew,

and only had lovely fluffy sweet nice good things to say about anything?

if you had a hobby/sport/scene that you'd spent years in and loved wouldn't you want to protect it from an army of arse licking "YES" men?

wouldn't you?

surely you can see that someone that cares enough to risk having a different opinion is worth taking the time to listen to,

fook it,
everyone can keep nodding, being positive and let the whole fooking ship sink eh?

I apologise for being positive.

Some people on a BMX forum abbreviating a skatepark name so it clashes with a well known bike brand is not the beginning of the end!

And if you love this sport like you say, stop ripping the piss out of people who are genuinely into it, but are perhaps not as BMX savvy as yourself!

The thing with BMX is, people take it in their own direction, and derive enjoyment from it in many different ways.
That has always been its strength.
