BLACK BEAST OF BRUM
« on: March 03, 2011, 09:36 PM »
Don't ever do resto topics , although I do love reading them ,and I've been constantly doing  resto on so many bikes and parts in the last five years ,, just never get the inclination to post up .
So because I'm doing a couple of cool low budget builds, I thought I'd post a couple of pics no resto really just the frame re done and a pile of NOS non brand parts
and many Landar parts  as these were distributed from  Birmingham too where the Piranha frames were made , I think these were stock on the Piranhas in store

I was gonna do it survivor at first but ended up doing a show quality build as I've not seen one done , many a resto but not one built with ALL new parts, barr the frame even the forks and bars are NOS  ;)

It was hard  work turning down DC 890s for copies and Oakley 3's for Fuan's as there wasn't a huge difference in price ,,but it wouldn't have been right putting big name parts on this build

I was initially going to do only  one of a choice of 3 low end bikes this year I'd chose , a Piranha , MK1 Tuff Burner or a Chrome Team Murray

but I got 2 in the same week  :D,, so one is going to go and it may be this so I don't know whether to build keep a bit then sell complete or split now  :-\

Here's the kit ,,it's a PROPER cool street bike ,,I'd like to use it on a Radchester type day out  :coolsmiley:

Massive respect fella, and I know your pain when it comes down to having to turn down the good brands in favour of copies. I resto'd a 1985 Lew ways aero stinger [cannock based] and had to collect copies of everything, but you did better than me. I broke when it came to pedals, i really dont like cheap pedals, so i went with a pair of mks!! But everything else is copied parts of better brands even down the terrible Bernardi mags!!

Great stuff man. Loving those decals :Great_Britain: 8) :daumenhoch:
I think it's probably more important to restore something unfamiliar than it is to add to the fleets of favorites

Yeah Rick they did them with either the metal cast Banana mags or Aero Zytec mags with the sealed bearing hubs

Nice one christian :)

Happy to see those kind of parts on rides, dont always have to be high end kit.....you been buying those parts from a seller on ebay based in Cradley?

Think those decals are known as prismatic......same kinda design as applied to the black raleigh chopper from the late 70s.
