impossible decal fitting!!
« on: November 30, 2010, 04:13 PM »
Had my lovely newly chromed LG's delivered today and tried to put the NOS decals on them but its fooking impossible! How the fook can clear backed LG decals fit without crimping? It just won't happen! Tried the soapy water but still fooking creased them on the bend.

Has anyone else managed it?  Do rub ons work better?

Got to be rub ons, the curve is too great for a decal (del may know more, my sticker making experience is 15 years old!)

You might get away with vinyl wrap material, but the print would warp.

go for rub ons, i think it would be near impossible to fit clear backed ones without creasing them.

always used rub ons Rob, they have a bit of elasticity (sp.) which helps go round the bends...

never seen printed LG decals, are you sure the clear bit isnt just an application layer which is removed after application?

hair dryer mate, dont over do it but a nice warmin really gives the decal a little extra stretch and you can make them fit perfect
i have over the years had tonnes of odd shapes to sticker and works perfect.dont heat it to much or itll go mental stretchy and die.

i applied some liquid metal look ones which were not rub ons, proper fook on, soapy water and a firm rub but they did have to sit a little further down the leg than the classic rub ons, rub ons look better any way, add that extra fraction of a mm that beefs em out  :D
