if you've ever wondered to yourself "how do you dye z-rims?" here you go
1st you need to clean up your rims using hot soapy water, then give them a going over with some fine grade wet'n'dry sandpaper, this is good for removing brake rub
before
after
i used golden yellow rit dye on these and they turned out cack(see below) so decided to do them black
things you need ; z-rims all prepared, a tub big enough to fit them in, 1.5kg of salt, 2 packets of rit dye, a wallpaper stripper, a stick and some marigolds to stop getting dye on your hands
put the salt and rit dye into the tub and start to add boiling water(enough to cover the rims)and give a reet good stir up
DO NOT DO THIS IN YOUR HOUSE AS THE CAT OR DOG MAY FALL INTO THE MIXTURE...OR YOU MAY TAKE OFF THE TOP LAYER OF LAMINATE IN YOUR DINING ROOM..THUS GETTING twatTED OFF THE MISSUS
next boil the water in your steam stripper and put the tube into the mixture, bring back to boil and simmer for a good 2/3 hours, stirring and turning over the rims occasionally to give good equal colouring
when your happy with them take them out and give a good rinse with cold water, dry, then spray with wd4o, wipe off then leave to dry...leaving you with...
