Hi, I have an early Ripper but how do I date it? I need some bits and im starting to lose the will to do it, so thought I'd join here and get some motivation.

Cheers Griff, appreciate the reply. Are the bits needed to rebuild readily available? Need forks, wheels, brakes, crank bearings seat post etc... What can I expect this to cost? Also if I decided to, what's it worth to sell it?

I managed to build mine (also PK5) pretty much entirely with parts sourced from people on here or following their leads, with nothing dated newer than 1983
Takes patience waiting for the right bits if you don't want to pay over the odds or 'make do' but you could bang something together with repop bits in no time - it's your bike and entirely up to you (& your budget) what you want to do, but my best advice is to take your time, think how you really want it to look and stick to that plan - otherwise you'll probably end up spending again to fiddle with it. Ask any questions in the tech n resto section and there are plenty of people on hand who are happy to share their knowledge

If you want to trade on here and avoid ebay fees and dodgy fookas then I'd recommend getting a site tag - this is a good community and generally deals go nice and smoothly

If you just want to punt it out for max profit then just take your chances and go on ebay

very nice frameset! ALL the bits are available to build it into a nice bike. It is possible to buy repop Landing Gear forks fairly easily, if you want some original unstamped Landing Gears it will be more money. It all depends on what your budget is and what you want to use the bike for. If you are going to ride it then not worth putting expensive, hard to replace parts on it. I am curious as to what bits you bought which were wrong size??
As said before, get a Site supporters tag and you will be able to take advantage of the For sale and Wanted sections on here. The best thing to do would be to look through the SE section in 'museum' and see some of the other 'rippers' which have been built to get an idea how you would like yours to look.
It can be frustrating waiting for the right bits to turn up sometimes but be patient, EVERYTHING is available which you would need to build this bike!
