Hutch Pro Racer
« on: December 13, 2014, 05:03 PM »
A few will have seen this on the hutch group Fb page but I thought I'd do a progress thread on here.
Peer group pressure has lead me to getting my arse into gear & putting a new rider together for next year.
F/F were traded from young Jack who got it from Tony.

I started sourcing parts with the intention of using quite a fewJDB repop parts.

Hutch stamped kashi, western H race stem.
Shiney hutch stamped donut.

Zap pads
Aero speeds & candy blue bear traps.

Jack sent the f/f straight to Dan. I asked Dan if he had tried candy blue over the new chrome base powder he had started using. He hadn't but reckoned the colour would be just as nice as the others he'd done, he wasn't wrong .
Here are what Dan sent me.

I was torn over the decals. Go white or go chrome?
I decided to ask for a custom twist. Going white but incorporating the shadow the decals that the chrome frames have but doing the shadow in chrome.
I got a dreaded phone call from del telling me they looked crap & I might as well bin them.
I took the F/F round to dels to show him Dans handy work. The decals looked bad on the White backing paper. I said, they might look ok on the frame let's try them. They looked a lot better on the blue.
The true temper bb shell decal with a bit of red white & blue added too.

Yeah with the bike been built to be my new pub rider that was sort of the idea really Ash.
pimp, custom, fantasy build. What ever you call it, there is no way I would be riding a bike with the original version of some of the parts I plan to use so thought I would have a little fun with the decals.  :buck2:

Wow, that really looks amazing Glynn. Those pedals in particular look fantastic! I know the JDB Hutch parts aren't to everyones taste, but personally I think they look great - especially if you're building something that will be ridden. It's easy to be critical if you have unlimited funds or only build carpet queens. Seeing this makes me really miss my Pro Racer  :'(
