Name: Callum
Location: Leicester
Age :48 (Feck where did all that time go ) ??????.....

Loves: Everything about my youth ! :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

Hates: Getting older......

BMX Era 1982-86 I'm not interested in any other period as this was the time i was riding & buying the magazines. After that it was all Quad Skates, Girls, Football Fags & Booze. :daumenhoch:

Fav BMX Brand: RICKMAN I've always loved the Top end British Frame Builders best  :Great_Britain: :Great_Britain: :Great_Britain:,

Buying an expensive bike when i was a kid just wasn't an option so my 1st BMX along with my friends grew organically from cheap purchases such as Raleigh Puch Marlboro Halfords etc.

First BMX: In my case it was a Marlboro Zapper  the Chrome One  (Team ZRS in 1983..  It was top of the line (for a cheap brand at the time).  Then came the Skyways, some CW Pro bars & various other parts.

Eventually i persuaded my parents to buy me a chrome Rickman Freestyler frame & forks.  I think I got it from form Bunny's Bikes in Nottingham (as the 83/4 Haro freestyler was too expensive) & I swapped most of the parts over from the Zapper.

Ever since then i was hooked on the brand, I think I still prefer to build up bikes from companies who specialised in simply making Frames as there's no set specification & it's not as frustrating as looking for parts for a replica build which in fairness has most likely been done many many times before.

Would like to own: (((Nothing))) , I've been lucky & I've now built & owned every bike i ever wanted from my youth, some a few times over :daumenhoch:

How long have I been in to BMX:

I got back in to Old school Bmx in Oct 2012  for the first time since 1988. I completed my first ever complete build in the November here's My First Rickman Freestyler since i got back into the hobby which was now sold long ago.

A Guilty Pleasure, The Zapper ZRS Team :

OK Finished it ! The 1st ever BMX that i had as a kid , my 1982/3 Marlboro Zapper ZRS Team edition. Factory spec & exactly as it came to me from the shop (Arnolds 2 wheelers in Loughborough) with black callipers & black top SR stem . it was never gonna be a show build or get re chromed but I love it & I'm glad i picked this over any burner or Puch that were on offer to me for the budget allowed. Even though they weighed a ton Marlboro did have a race team too BITD so here goes.

Spec:

Frame: Marlboro Reynolds 501
Forks:  Marlboro Reynolds 501
Bars:   SR PRO BARS
Grips: Fuan F-1
Levers: Shimano DX (Style) MX logo
Callipers: Dia compe MX1000
Seat: Generic Aero it's a viscount in the brochure but i never had one on mine when i got it
Seatpost clamp : (Generic Tuf Neck style replacement) My original clamp lasted about 6 months so i replaced it with one of these as the time so this one has one also!
Headset: (Original)
Crank: Generic
Spider & Chain ring : SR 44t
Pedals: SR Graphite SP-513
Wheels: Generic Alloy
Tyres: Compe 3
Valve: Dice
Stem: SR
PADS: (Original), Stem pad missing )

Also as there was no information about on the brand i took the liberty to do some research & set up a Facebook page for the brand collation all of the images scans catalogues & information i could find on the brand all of that is here if you are interested: https://www.facebook.com/MarlboroZapperBMX

(Big thanks to Del for utilising the artwork i sent to him in order to produce the decals as it's just completed the build in a way i never thought possible).

Marlboro PRO Team Rider Steve Bigland in Action Derby March 11th 1984 on his ZRS Team...
