Eastways Cycle Circuit 1981
« on: March 13, 2012, 10:17 PM »

Hi again, a few more racing shots from the good old days when we used to race in black and white. I'm pretty sure these were take at the then recently opened bmx track at Eastways Cycle Circuit somewhere around 1981.

Enjoy  :)

I loved Eastway, got a 3rd in my first national final there! Went for a visit a couple of years ago just before they announced it was being demod for the Olympics :-[

Thanks for posting them pics, brought back some great memories, especially the berm jumping!!

Some great BMXers there as well, Andy Ruffs in casuals, Nikki Mathews, Scott McDonald, Pete Middleton, Alan Woods, Mike Pardon to name a few! Im sure Stups was there to in the team taylor jersey.

We just need Keith Wilson to help fill in the gaps!!
A long time ago, in a land far away!

Classic Eastway Ratty, great great pics great memories. I remember the big final showdown between and Andy in the 15+ Andy gave me a helping hand over the first berm. ( there is a pic of it in OBMX somwhere.) It was an epic battle between North and South!!! well not really Andy kicked my ass. He got number one plate i came away with 2.
Loved the BIG ( ha ha) tabletop at Eastway.

the guy in question is the one and only Dave Arnold. Always wore one knee pad. Now races flat track with John Lee of chorley bmx track fame.

Superb photos again. These are that old I can't remember being there but that's me #317. The 1st year of bmx racing. I ended up with the number 3 plate in the 13 yr olds behind Brian jones n Craig schofield. Happy days

Ok instead of taking all night picture by picture lets name riders by their number plates.....

188 Andy Ruffell
133 (and Ace plate) Cav Strutt
178 Nicky Matthews
579 Pete Middleton
214 Alan Woods
507 Jay Hardy
515 Kev (Kai) Rivierre
348 Mike Pardon
307 Mike Chilvers
270 (paper plate) Pogo Patterson from Grange Hill
352 Glen Steadman (I think)
427 Anthony Wonfor??
555 Dave Thomas
140 James Black
Champagne opener, Carl Alford with Glen Steadman
449 Malcom Stapleton
337 Chris Young?

Cav was the Raddest!!!  :)
