Skyway Pads Vs Dia Compe Pads
« on: November 23, 2009, 08:10 PM »
Hi,

Could all you experts out there tell me if it is o.k to use Dia Compe Black Pads on Skyway Black Wheels?

If I managed to find some original Old School Black Tuff Pads this would cost a small fortune  :( (anyone got 8 - how much?  :P), the new Skyway Pro Pads would not look right on an Old School BMX.

Would the Dia Compes mark, also are they safe to use on this type of wheel?

Thank You

Are you going to be riding it  ???

Some factory bikes BITD came with Tuff or Zs & Dia Compe brake blocks  :)

They will work, but are not even good with the correct Skyway Brake Pads  ::)

I'm no expert but IMO I reckon you'd be better to buy the newer Skyway pads (made by koolstops) or Koolstops themselves if you are going to ride it and you actually want to stop as OS brake pads are useless  ;)

Would Grey Kool Stops mark the Black Skyways?

Marginally and not that you would notice that much however, they will stop you  :daumenhoch:

The marks clean off anyways with Cif or Jif as we all used to know it  ::).

I was always under the impression Kool Stop made the tuff pads for Skyway or have I just dreamt that up?
I used grey Kool Stop Continentals on my Tuffs bitd as they were way cheaper than tuff pads, they didnt mark my original black ones but did mark the white tuffs I had.

Yep you are spot on Del, but the tuff pads use a slightly different compound than the brown and grey Koolstop pads; something to do with the dye for the colours  :daumenhoch:

is it possible to dye the rubber on grey kool stop conti's to black, only going on show bike?
i know this would probably wear off if used! Or just stick to black dia compes for show?
