Just spied this,
also agree that this is a great bit of history for british bmx,
also agree that the pic with the 'scort is 'kin minted!
I am sure there was more similiar pics on here from that day,
cannae beat an Aero Pro, and an old Ford in the same pic, in my book anyway. 8)

what was so goos about the campy hubs, they weren't even sealed were they?

Why use that road crap, when Suzue or Suntour are mechanically far superior?

Nice history but can someone explain the logic behind the way the spokes are laced  :-\ 

Why are the spokes all on the outside of the hub when they haven't got recesses (like SST hubs) to cater for the spokes overlapping. Resulting in bent spokes.
Can't see how many times the spokes cross the others, but seem to be so many times that they are bent around the radius of the hub flange. Resulting in bent spokes in another direction.
And from the pic's they don't look to be interlaced, or is that because of the above?

Lets hear some wise words from the wheel builders on here.

Spoke up in a manky way due to it being a converted track hub ? ( and suzue hubs ect were cheap copys of the low end campy stuff)

the big deal about campagnolo hubs is decades of experience designing hubs that spin like a dream and r&d done real time in the real world! this obviously came in handy for bmx racing ! wow, not sealed ! must be shit then! :buck2:

i never said they were shit, i just wondered what was so good about them.

unsealed hubs never match sealed for smoothness, especially when racing on dirty and dusty track conditions which would require cleaning and adjusting after short periods. i'm sure the precious 'r+d' you mention never took bmx tracks into consideration.due to this and the fact that most folk don't have the patience to fart about with unsealed hubs i feel unsealed hubs are downright dangerous.

but thanks for your input, now get back to your couch.

properly adjusted unsealed hubs will spin far smoother and far longer than any sealed hubs, yes they require more maintainance but are far better if looked after.
