steve is flogging these but don't know the date for them , if anyone knows when they were first about give us a shout as i'm after something '77 ish and i think these look around this date  :daumenhoch:

I think these are even earlier than 1981 I reckon 1980.

Suntour VX 3 piece Cranks first came out in 1979 and were on the Kuwahara KE-1.

Other than that like you say Ashtabula 1 piece cranks were around in 1977.

They ran Shimano Dura Ace and Campagnolo roadie 3 piece cranks on pre 80s bikes in the states.
Can be a little pricey to pick up as the vintage road boys like them.
I used to have a set of 81 Shimano 600s, very similar to Dura Ace, mounted on my GT below.
