Reshaping Tyres?
« on: August 20, 2009, 01:28 PM »
I bought a pair of some nos barefeet (not from Joe) a while back and they are all a bit, well, mis-shapen, someone had a heavy tyre arm that's for sure when removing them. Can I reshape these or are they fooked? Only on certain areas they are lifted up more. I'd like to use them for the london charity ride if poss so no major rush. Let me know what you'd suggest to sort them out.

ta,

Matt  :daumenhoch:

Mine were squashed from years of storage, were fine once i got 60psi in them though.

I had to tweek a little when blowing them up to get them seated even, just put 10 psi in, tweek a little then fill them up.

After a bit of riding they are fine now.

in the old days when i used to fit motorcycle tyres by hand we always used soap, that way the bead seats properly, if I have a trouble some bike tyre I find that a bit of soapy water helps everything to go where it should ooeeerrrr missus

Pump em up and then deflate them to see where they go funny.

Then keep squishing the tyre to get the bead seated properly because they tend to leave a big bulge where they are out of shape.

Then keep pumping and squishing until they pump up correctly.

All tires are slightly out of whack anyway.   Even car tires have to be balanced.

So long as the bead is seated then they'll be fine!!  :daumenhoch:
