Undersea Harry Leary Turbo update

From This:
To this:
Still needs a final polish.... toptube is scratched from brake cable
The pedals are stuck fast. I have tried dismantling them and can't get the cages off for starters. The alloy endcaps came off as did one of the end nuts but the cages prevent me getting a spanner in to undo the other nut on the pedal spindle.
Still looks better than it did

Well done Andy, you are the king of shine.Good luck with the pedal situation...normally you'd just whack a heat gun on the crank end to heat things up(it was the only way i got my A.P.Team burner pedals off)...however a HL crank is a bit rarer than a sugino 1 piece so i wouldnt fancy that method!!!).
Are you going to black chrome it(or whatever the technique is called???).

you need to hit the end of the pedal with the hammer to break & loosen the rust in the crank arm

Thanks for the comments guys... I will get the frame forks and cranks coated and rechrome the stem and Turbo seat post. I am not sure if the bars and frame are too scratched in places to coat them but i cant really afford to have everything rechromed at the moment. I also have 2 sets of chrome front and rear 890s(not pictured)
Next job is to soak the pedals and taunt them for a few days... Also derusting the inside of the gusset.... which is nice

before you soak the pedals get a centre punch & a hammer & bang the ends closest the crank arms to loosen the bonded metals

I use Autosol. I buy from this guy:

For stobborn bits of Rust i have a Lapidary machine which is a small polishing tool like a dremmel but it has a flexible drive shaft so you can use it like a pencil. Excellent for getting into those hard to reach areas or polishing small items. It is adjustable speed on a thumbwheel and runs up to 13,500RPM!!!! It looks like this:
The brushes in the box are wire brushes the grey are harder and the brassy coloured ones softer... they are great for removing bits of rust and save my thumbnails from a battering. The other tools are felt and lambswool polishing mandrels...these can buff alloy to a mirror finish and chrome too. It comes with grinding and sanding attatchments too and takes all dremel tools.
I got the lapidary tool from here:

Hi
That's coming on very well, a real labour of love.
(NB - did you try the freeze spray on the pedals? It works a treat and has not fialed that I know of)
You just gotta love a Turbo.

Yup two stems... I nearly bought 2 more a couple of weeks ago but i thought i would let CBRGill have em cheap
They really need sanding and rechroming(well one does for sure). I have two Turbos one i am doing for show and one to ride. So i really need the two stems sorry. If i decide to part with one i will give you a shout though m8
