Fitting a Takagi 3 Piece crank.
« on: April 08, 2009, 09:39 AM »
I fitted my Takagi 3 piece crank with no instructions and it was fine, however, I removed one of the crank arms to fit a bottom bracket boot (ready for racing), and since putting the arm back on it makes a horrible sort of squeaky, scraping noise!

No parts are where they shouldn't be as I basically took it off and put it back on.

Any ideas why it's making the noise and how I can get rid of it?

Cheers!

OK it's because the locking bolt keeps working loose, it didn't come with a spring washer or serated washer.

Should it have?

Shall I loctite the bugger in for racing on Sunday?

A dab of Loctite and plenty of torque on the bolt  :daumenhoch:

Forgot to mention to grease the axle flats too, this will reduce further risk of creaking  ;)
