Sean, you will never forget your youth no matter how long you live, if this bike has a special significance to you then don't let it go.  If you're anything like a lot of us, times are difficult and it can be tempting to cash in.  If this is your situation, how long before you regret it, no matter what you buy later, it will never be 'the one'.

Sometimes I look up at my TA and Master and think 'but I need...this that, the other'... The next day they're both still there, its not a good time or a good reason to sell.

If you are coming 'under pressure' from those who say they love you to 'grow up' or 'be different' (how I want you to be, not how you want to be) feelings of guilt over 'not' having done so then stand your ground.

If its truly time for the bike to go, then it should be because you have thought it through long and hard and that the reason for you selling is far more compelling than the actual bike.

The bike can't be replaced any more than your youth can...It will always be a part of you.

I wish you well in your decision.

Ray.

Thanks for your thoughts guy's. I'm not under any pressure, in fact my wife questioned my decision to sell it. I just cant think of logical reason to keep a bike stored never to be ridden again. I've only physically seen the bike a handful of times in the past 4 years, the rest of the time it's covered and hung up in the loft never to be seen. Maybe if it fetches enough money I can buy a decent watch, then when I look at the time it will remind me of the MASTER and my youth....  :-\

Another cool pic fella...KEEP IT,RIDE IT,ENJOY IT.
If it was a bike you had built recently then fair enough parting aint so bad...but as it is your ride from BITD I would just keep it,it served you well and deserves to be kept.

Sean

I aint one for buying and building old school stuff myself, but thats your original bike matey. If I still had mine then I would never sell it.

Keep it matey, forget you've got it, borrow money for a watch. Dont sell it.

No way SELL IT dude!!! Watches are MUCH better than bikes anyway, they can tell the time & everything plus you can actually wear them ON your wrist & if you get a really sparkly one it could even attract undesirables in "hoodies" who'll chop your arm clean off just too take it from you, imagine that?!
Bikes are boring, especially when you've had them SO long, like all your life I mean, why keep it forever huh? You've had you're fun on it right? Then sell it!!  Whats the point of reminding yourself of when you WERE young eh? Who wants that when a new watch can keep reminding you of time just passing by, thats MUCH better.
PLUS if you sell it you can really be like 99% of people on this very site who say "ahhh fcuk, I wish I still had that......."

Wow,love that bike sean,Can't believe you'd sell it,wouldn't it be better to just sell the parts from it,not sure how much the complete bike will go for ,but i reckon you could probably break it and sell the parts for as much as you'll get for it complete......you would still have your original F+F and plenty of cash, that way you could always rebuild later down the line if you changed your mind.
But hey, your choice sean, just seems a shame to let it go........good luck anyway.

I'd agree with splitting it, our friends in the states on VBMX would pay a fortune for the bars and stem alone.

I've just pulled the auction beacuse ebay's daft rules wont allow me to add international selling :tickedoff: It will be relisted tonight at 20:00hrs. I'll put the link up later.

I've taken your advise and stripped the bike down. It's now on ebay in bits... apart from the frame which may go on at a later date..
