Whats up with you guys  ""Nice and flat"" ,  tracks should all be built on the side of a hill, like coxmoore, but including standard 40ft triples and  45 degree downhill rhythm sections,

LOL,  -

Jon, you should have tried the track in Yeovil that they built in the 80's.  It was on the side of a hill and dropped nearly 100ft front start to finish.  I was mad and bloody frightening.  The start gate was actually hardly sloped at all otherwise you would have been going too quick.

Sounds just like the track i was looking for, all the riders in my age group were about 4" Tallerr then me and could haveten out-pedaled me on the strights, i always made up my ground on the the technical parts of the track,  as soon as strengh alone was removed wit the down hill tracks I was more like no 1 or 2 rather number 6  wm  LOL

what Jamie meant by flat is that there were no big jumps, Chessy track was built on a hill and superfast, you had to add a couple of teeth up front so you didnt spin out
 :) DINGO :)

I'm with Jon on this one.  I too was one of the smallest in my age group.  At places like Derby, riders like Whopper etc who were massive blew me away, get me at the Birmingham Wheels where the track takes away the advantage for the big riders and I was up there with the leaders.

My derby memory is being in a qualifying position in the semi final and being t-boned on the last turn.

Realistically I wold not have been competative on that track at my age back then, but I was gutted not to make the final !

Do you remeber a kid called Tom Mountsey, or something like that, he was a really young rider from malvern when we used to race,  one morning of the racing my family and his familey were playing crazy golf somewhere,  he took an almighty swing at the golf ball, missed compleatly and smashed me on the head with the golf club, I had to go to A&E and had to ride the rest of the brits with stiches and a bandage on my head !

Thats my other memory of derby - LOL
