1inch threadless headset question
« on: December 23, 2008, 01:52 AM »
Will a 1 inch threadless headset cups and bearings only work with a 1 inch threaded fork using the current cone, washer and head lock??  I assume it would as its only the cups and bearings and the top bearing is a normal caged bearing.  I also assume Ill have to change the fork race to the new race to use the new needle lower bearing?

This YST threadless on a 1inch threaded fork:  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YST-1-threadless-headset-w-hanger-BLUE-ANODIZED_W0QQitemZ200291036354QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCycling_Parts_Accessories?hash=item200291036354&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177

thanks

its the internal headset size you should double check first as alot of 1" arent actually the same.
ones for racers are about 2mm smaller.

I just tried to have a Nikyo Oldschool Headset fitted to my 85 performer build,

the bloody cups are about 1mm too big :'(

really gutted. was told that it would fit any old school build!

and it was the only black headset I could find :-\

Now I feel like my whole build is compromised.

bloody gutted for christmas :(

telelogic that headset should fit might be tight but should fit.

glen a regular bmx headstock internal should be approx 32mm    a 1" threadless is  about 29.8mm so will flop about

The guy at the shop that I had fit it said it was the wrong size ???

He seemed to know what he was talking about.

I'd obviously love it if he was wrong, if only for aesthetic reasons.

1 1/8 cups wont fit in a 1" frame   but you can fit 1" into a 1 !/8 frame  its a matter of fitting loose balls into a 1" cup and using the 1 1/8 top end set
confusing but been done alot.
