Can I use theses?
« on: December 08, 2008, 03:25 PM »

I recently bought this wheelset from Daz BMX for a build I'm doing for my mate. I've had an old Reflex f+f sat in the loft for a while and decided to build it up for my mates xmas pressie just out of some bits n bobs i've got spare.

The only thing i've had to buy are these wheels but now they've arrived i'm not sure if they will be suitable. The rims seem to be really narrow and i'm not sure what tyre they would take or if I could fit to a freestyle build. The for sale ad didn't really say much.

they look ok in the pic but in real life the rims look dead skinny.
all my 20" bikes have tuffs, the only bike i have with spokes is a cruiser so its hard to tell. If I hold the wheels next to a tuff with a tyre on I can't see how it'd fit

Well, they look either like 20x 1.75 or 20x 1.50's so they will be ok.

20x 1.75 is perfecto!

if your still unsure, have a look round the rim and there might be a time size somewhere ingraved in to it... what rims are they? Araya? Sumo? Weinmenn?

No idea what make they are, it doesn't say anything on em. I just needed some black rims with black hubs and silver spokes quick and these popped up.
I haven't got long to get this bike finished so if they ain't right i'm screwed!

They almost look like mini race wheels 1.125 ???

I can't get in touch with Daz coz he's moving house and got no internet

Well they dont look that small in the pictures... i think you should put them on the build and take some pictures to see what they look like and put them up here so its a bit more judgable as from the pictures you already have, they look like normal wheels ;)

ive got these rb-17s and they are just over an inch i also ran very narrow sun rims, i wouldnt hesitate using either, and 1.75s fit like a fookin glove, so i reckon no worries :daumenhoch:

Brilliant cheers mate!
I just didn't want to go ahead and buy tyres til I was sure and only really got one crack at this build if I'm to get it done in time.

Its going to be the cheapest build ever with mainly good but unbranded parts. I'll be honest... it looks the nuts already Its all mint and I've just kept it all black and chrome.... he'll be chuffed with it I hope
