rick would shag a buttonhole in a fur coat and tried it on with all the riders girlfriends, giving him the nickname 'molesterno'.

 allegedly.

nice info philbert

good one mate!

his is a great thread and I`d like to add some info to it. Great pictures of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen frames ,but it should be clarified that thoughs are all waterford frames. The 1st waterfords came out in 93 and continued until mid 2007. Before this in 1992 Standard had the very 1st prototype frames built by a company called Southwick Machine. Southwick made 8 prototype frames and of the 8 only two are still known to exist, also in 1992 after Southwick came the Gardner built Shorty & lengthy frames which were given to factory riders about 200 of these frames total were made.

I'd be interested to see pictures of the rollercam front brake setup mentioned above....?

As far as I know, it was the same as the Hutch roller cam front brake. Similar to a pitbull but the cam had a "U" shape on the back of the cam. The the cable fed down the forks, clamping on one side of the "U", the other side was on the outside of the forks, on the back of the Cam. (There is probably someone on here who knows about the Old School Huch one. Woody Itson used them.) I heard they worked well but were a bitch to set up, and a right pain of you wanted to take off your forks or stem.

This is Rick Moliternos Prototype roller cam brake fork from 1992 I purchased it directly from Rick. The only thing that is stock about the brake is the arms which are Suntour. Everything that secretly makes this brake work was custom built and machined one off. The brake works flawlessly and much better than a 990. My guess that what killed it`s design is the fabrication of the custom pieces. The fork looks shiny in the picture of Ricks complete bike a few posts above this because it was new, the fork was always raw and unpainted so obviously over time alittle surface rust has formed.  Yes the brake is tricky to set up LOL

some standard stuff for the thread :daumenhoch:

This is Paul Osicka`s Prototype TAO that`s in the Standard ad. I purchased the frame directly form Rick Moliterno , the frame has a different top tube length than the production frames and is also factory brakeless unlike the production frames which came with 990 mounts.
