well iwas happy to get the bronze licence but after the winter series i reckon its getting more and more cost wise to race and it will probably be my last season as costs are getting too much especially when you are talking 60/70 quids to fork out in one go

Imagine having 4 Gold licences to buy  we'll be doing them gradually but knowing we're fully protected liability wise :daumenhoch:

I paid £85 last year for a family silver membership which included licences for the kids for free I think  :daumenhoch:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,

BCF Membership for 2 Adults and 8 Children = Gold £134 or Silver £80

I think that doesn't include the Racing Licenses, so you'd have to add £15.50 per person (over 18 years old).

Youth and Under 12 (Born 1992 or after) get a FREE Racing Licenses if they have Gold/Silver Membership

Junior is £6.25 (Born (1990 or 1991) for a Racing License if they have Gold/Silver Membership

Might be a simple question but where do I go to get these memberships and licences (I will get one for me and some of the kids)?

The price is a fair bit but being protected is good news.

I have just started a new job and don't get any sick pay for the next three months!  Certainly running the risk considering my crash yesterday.

Dex!!, read the Previous Posts!!

Racing license runs Jan to Dec so dont buy one yet!!  Also you dont need a license to race in the Winter Series!

I'd wait until Jan 1st!!

Buy yourself some Brand X body armour and Knee/shin pads.  Cheap and effective!!  I dont leave home without them!!  :LolLolLolLol:

DONT get a family membership if its just you and your lad!!   It ONLY works out cheaper for 2 adults + kids!!

Your kid doesn't need a race license either!!

The payouts for injuries isn't too great!!   Make sure you understand the cover you are getting.

Don't worry - I wont buy before next year.

I may try and get my girls involved too, but I reckon only one of them is up for it.

So... if I need to check the cover I guess I can't ride with the gay abandon I am used to?

It now cost £64 instead of £62 for the Gold Membership!!  (thats okay)

But the racing license has gone from £15.50 to £32!!

Is this right or I have clicked on the wrong link!!  :(

did you get the renewal email that kindly reminds you that your racing license is expiring end of the year (as they all do) even though (my) BCF license doesnt expire until april...  but you have to do them together... what a crock of sh*t!

im not thinking about it at the moment... I wont need the racing license until the summer series start so im going to do mine then! it doesnt bother me if it expires the winter series dont need a license.....

Looks that way re: Paying for 2010.......Typical short sighted mentality.......up the cost so parents cannot afford to get their kids into the sport.......good way of getting new blood into the sport..........not!!!

Typical committee.................take minutes.............waste hours........... :uglystupid2:
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

There is already a fuss about regionals needing a silver membership or higher!

And now they more than double the cost of the Racing license!

How can anyone justify that in this economic climate!!  >:(

up the cost so parents cannot afford to get their kids into the sport

Kids racing license is free.

Maybe they are trying to get rid of any oldies!!

Fook 'em

Just turn up for the Summer Series!

Wear an assortment of wigs and disguises and change ya name!!

You can race 3 times before needing a license but you could stretch it longer!!

What are they going to say 'No'.

They'd prefer the £7 rather than none!!

The money doesn't bother me!!

But WTF are they playing at!!

To make everyone have Silver or Gold Memberships to race regionals and then to double the race license!!

If I joined this year and they said the race license and Gold membership would cost £96 then I would just pay it!!

But to double it, when I know last year's was £15.50.

What do we get for this price hike?

Isn't it just a license to race!!

It doesn't it do anything other than that!

All our 3rd party liabilities etc, etc are part of the Membership fees!!

I've just written an email to The Sun telling them about it and to investigate it!!

They'll probably do fook all but I thought it would be a laff!!  :LolLolLolLol:

just got reply email from roger wilbrham at bcc and he has confirmed we must have their silver or gold  next summer but if doing regionals only you do not have to buy the licence as well as this so result i think as were 35.00 better off than we thought we wewre going to be  :daumenhoch:

Are you sure Gregster?

They may be pulling a fast one!!  ???

If you dont need a Racing License then that saves £32 (regionals ONLY) but you need to pay at least £36 for a silver membership!!

So basically he's saying pay for Silver (at least) and you can race regionals on your provisional license.

If you can race regionals on a Provisional License then why do you need a Silver Membership?

Any membership including Bronze will give you a provisional license!!

Maybe he wants you to get silver for the 3rd party cover in case you injure another rider or spectator at a cycling event!!

I bought a Silver last year and a Racing License. Does a Provisional license come with  a Issue Number so that you can fill in your Entry form correctly?

I haven't seen a Provisional license, so I dont know!!
