Redline flight crank experts needed
« on: November 01, 2008, 01:30 PM »
Hello lads. I have an easy question regarding redline flights. The ones in question are single pinch, full wrap, and have the sticker indent on both the outside and inside of each arm. All standard stuff except for one thing - I can't see a Redline stamp on them except for a very lightly stamped 180 about a third of the way along one topside of each arm. Was there a version of flights made to this spec, and if so what era would they be?

I always thought flights had Redline stamped somewhere on them. Am I wrong?

Many thanks, Bob

Have the arms been rechromed at some point ... chances are the stamp's been polished out  :-\

Bigfrawg: already checked that link, but all the arms featured have the stamp, and Steve - the chrome on them is shot, but they look so original to me. I'm absolutely sure they haven't been messed about with.

I would if I could, but it's a pair I'm currently sniffing around that I went to have a look at this morning. With the benefit of hindsight I should have bought my ruddy camera... :-\

If they are single pinch and only stamped 180 they are probably Redline Prolines.

Prolines only have the sticker indent on the outside of the arms.

What about Peregrine Gen 1's they were similar to flights...

I think Peregrine's are the most likely explanation. They were on a nice Robinson I'd been sniffing around (300268623833), but after dropping by to take a proper look they were pretty rough and the lack of Redline stamp tipped me into deciding to walk away. It would still have made a great project though...but the wife would have almost certainly gone postal if I'd have bought yet another ruddy cruiser :-\
