Old School Race Bikes - what are the rules ?

I'm hoping you guys can give me some help here.

I'm thinking of restoring my '83 quadangle for a bit of racing in the old school class, for some of fun. It's been sitting in the loft since I stopped riding it in the mid '80's.

I'm going to have to buy some NOS parts to get it going, and I was wondering if there are any rules that would stop me racing it in the old school class. I'm tempted to buy some of the flight cranks on sale at Alans BMX, but I don't think they count as true old school parts. Will this be a problem, if I want to race it ? or do I have to use all old school parts ?

I'm not in the market for spending £100's on it, to make a show bike, I just want to get it going for a race every now and then.

What do you think ?

If they come with a Euro BB then you'll need a DMR Wondercup conversion kit to fit the US BB on Old School frames.  I run this set up on my Redline - smooth as!!  Humps

Just trying to be helpful Keith.    Now you mention it, your place could use double-glazing, maybe I could put a friend in touch.  And your new pad is going to need a chippy to do all that woodworking in the shed when you build the ramp.  And you'll need a mini-digger to make new trails - I'll send some brochures!!    Humps

I dropped the frame off yesterday for a respray (factory white as it was origianlly), but I guess I'd better have a look at getting those cranks next, or maybe I should go for the double glazing ?

What about wheels?  A decent set or arayas or ukais arent cheap (neither are new wheels, but at least theyre available)  Could I have these on an old school bike?

There's nothing in the rules to say you can't use those , if you've money to burn 

A reasonable set of Arayas/Ukais are approx £70-£80 ? .

My first ride back was on a Haro Group 1 RS2 that had cheap tuff copies from Alans (about 30 quid a pair). Ask my brother, I am one crazy mother that jumps every thing and have had some nasty stacks. Bike and wheels still in one piece and I am 18 stone!!

Now riding a beautiful set of shiny Ukai's with small flange Suzue hubs. No probs at all!
