Can new school cranks fit old school bikes?
« on: October 08, 2008, 09:28 AM »
I'm not talking about redline cranks here, I'm thinking more about Profile Racing cranks. Someone has offered me one with a 19mm spindle but it has a spanish BB, whereas I'd have to get a US BB from somewhere. This will be for a rider so not too worried about the age of the cranks, actually the new profile cranks look quite nice :)

Let me know. If I am able to get the bits to fit it and it is possible to fit new school i.e. 2 year old cranks to an old school 1984 bike then I may go for them.

Cheers for the advice,

Matt  :daumenhoch:

As long as you get the right "USA" BB cups with 19mm bearings then they will be fine in the new cranks.
Any "old school" cups and bearing will fit as long as they have 19mm bearing (most of them have).

just buy a profile hop up kit and it contains all you need.
