Help with removing a stem...
« on: September 13, 2008, 10:57 PM »
Wondered if you could help with this one chaps?

I am trying to get the Suntour Power Stem out of this old Burner....only it seemsto be stuck.

Any idea on shifting the thing would be gratefully received  :daumenhoch:

Many thanks

:) Spray loads of WD40/allow to soak over night and try tapping big screwdriver from the bottom of the steerer tube..

if the wedge is still in the steerer tube they lock the stem when tightened up. I have had a fair few of these stems. trick is to screw bolt back in about four or five threads. Then hit bolt with a mallet or hammer. it will force the wedge back down and it should just pull out.

if there is no wedge and its just rusted in. like heywood said
