It's not BMX but hey, how Rad would it have been to ride the bowl like this! Did any RAD members get to ride it back then?

Look at THAT
The whole place looks so smooth!

I think Jedi said he went there when the extra vert was still on.

I remember it like that. I think it came off in about 80-81? From memory, Vince Scanlon (sic?) persuaded the old man to knock it off so more peeps could use it. Harrow's high wall lasted a lot longer...  :-[

wow...never even knew, but it's always been called the performance.

Some people have some stupid names for the bowls in that place

Ive not seen a photo of Rom like that but I have seen some of Harrow, and once you look for it you can see that Rom used to be the same. The lip is all patched in all the way round.

This is the Performance bowl at Harrow that has been totally filled in for years. Shame, I guess we will never get to see it now.

A DVD is available from the early days - http://www.rollinthroughthedecades.com/

If you 'click' on - STILLS then Ben Liddell (my cousin was an early Pro Skater) is that also ROM?

Vince Scanlon. Now there's a name I've not heard in a while.....

I started going to Rom in 82, and the wall was gone then.  I did my bit though, I was one of the gang that took part of the halfpipe wall down in a fit of madness...

Vinoah is right, it was only the Performance Bowl when it had the wall around it.  Old school skaters will always call it the Budget.  :)

Amazing pic! After being to Rom for the first time this year (shame on me!) that pic just blows me away! HOW deep must that wall have made the bowl??? 14 feet?
Outrageous!
And the pic from Harrow looks just as mental.
Why o why did those things get destroyed??!!

Now I want to get a shovel and dig out the old Kelvingrove......!
