Matt Baines - Harrow King
« on: January 04, 2006, 03:47 PM »
Does anybody (apart from Pete) remember Matt Baines? Or know where he is now?

The bloke rocked Harrow skatepark back in the early/mid eighties and it would be really nice to know what he's up to now.

Here's a pic to jog some memories (He's the guy on the right standing behind Mr Fiola and next to me!) :

:) I am originally from NW London  and rode/skated  Harrow 82-87 and remember Matt.BITD he had a Redline with Bottema forks and used to jump over a 7 ft chainlink fence out of the snake run at Harrow. He got more into skating after BMX,and as far as I know he still skates. There is a website, something like Old Skaters Reunited??? If you can find the site, someone there may be able to put you in touch.

Thanks James - nice one. Was it a redline or a Kuwahara? I can't remember. Anyhow, I'll try and track down the old skaters site...thanks again mate.

Cheers

yeah I was at that demo and saw mat ride earlier in the day and he was going for 720 s and your right he did rip it up at Harrow. Did you see my footplant eight foot out to wipe out in the demo ? I still have a dent in my hip from that :LolLolLolLol:

I would love to see them as that was a good demo I remember I broke both skyways and threw my GT top into the crowd, those were the days.

Hey Stodg - I don't know him personally although I have spoken to him once a few years back. Living right by rom kind of spoils me - I never really skate anywhere else (part from my garage)...  he is indeed a true Harrow local & a natural ripper - there was an RAD issue from way back with Matt ripping a huge method on a Schmitt Lucero... Actually, I think I'm on the wrong forum now... shouldn't I be on M-A-S or sum'fin? Sorry Bill / Dave / Rhys about  all this dirty talk...

No problem Jim, nice to see ya on here again  :smitten:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
