Removing Vinyl pad print

Has anyone any advice on removing the print off vinyl pads before I go and try something? Any help would be great thanks!  :santa_afro:

I used soft steelwool with soap (actualy the soap is already in the steelwool!)
Mine was a yellow pad and where the print was, the vinyl didn't shine anymore.
Then sprayed WD40 on it and became much better........
Don't know if this will work for other colors.

Sounds a bit barbaric to me. I'd have thought those scourers would scratch the fook out of a vinyl pad. WD40 might look shiny initially, but as soon as it evaporates, you're back to dull and scratched again.

I don't know what you could use to remove the writing, without taking off the shiny layer. I'd say some sort of thinners would be better than scratching them off.

If it's just for show, maybe you could just laquer the pad afterwards.

I was thinking down the line of reversing the process of the printing. I expect the print is applied with heat, so if I can iron over something that will stick to the print and pull it away from the pad? Just a thought..... :santa_cheesy:

nail polish remover(acetone) or turps, but test a little bit first.

Well thanks to everyone for the advice, I think I will give the Acetone a go first, then step it up to thinners , then blow torch and scrapper, lol.  :santa_cheesy:

I have used T-cut on a clean cloth. It works ok.

Wire wool is too harsh.

Whatever you do...start with the thinner BEFORE the Acetone. Thinner is less destructive. Acetone will MELT the vinyl. If you do use acetone, put a small amount on a rag and rub it llightly. I suggest using a heat gun (starting from a distance of about 2 feet) and move closer to get the result. Be careful because when it starts working, it starts working fast. Keep a close watch because you will burn it and it will happen fast.

Ok, quick update. I have done 2 pads so far. I actually tried everything I had that I thought would be solvent based. Found superglue remover worked the best with a very stiff brush. That was going to get expensive, so the second pad I used thinners and that worked but does spread the print a bit. Took a little bit more work cleaning it all up but nice finish and no damgae to the nylon. Will try something different on the next I think, I loves it!
