Proclass Rim Strips
« on: April 07, 2008, 09:36 AM »
Looking for some advice on getting my Proclass rims strips the colour I need 'em.  My mate has kindly given me his proclass rims and rimtapes so I can get my Ruffell build complete.  Problem is, his rimtapes are black/gold and I need a blue rimtape.  Has anyone had a similar problem?  If so, what have you used to change the colour?  I've tried looking for some blue foil type stuff on ebay without success.  I had also thought about metallic blue enamel paint, nail varnish, or spraying them, but thought I'd ask here before making a James Blunt of it  :D

I have never used the actual Pro-Class rim strips on any of my builds.  What I did was go along to my local craft store and buy about 4m of ribbon and used that.  Ribbon comes in loads of cool colours, sizes and styles and cost approx 50p per metre.

Thanks for that.  I will head into town and get some.  A bit cheaper than real ones!  ;)

I've ordered this off ebay, £3.53 inc postage.  Looks like it will do the job.

That will be fine, and look ace.  It will be a good idea to invest in some rubber rim tape to go over this, which will protect the inner tube.  You can buy it at any bike shop or Halfrauds, it costs about £2 for a pair.
