dirtbike , but your not gunna like it :p

i finally have one after wanting one since when i started riding in the mid 90s
i was going to buy harris` but its a little too nice and i wanted one i could ride without fear of getting it dirty so when this one popped up on the bay i had to press buy it now
its obviously an oversize which is great as i could use my race forks and redneck
the paint is awful , really badly done , but the colour is growing on me
its also been cut to 14mm , badly too and i had to file the left drop out to get the wheel in as it had closed up a bit at the rear and was a bit folded in , it also has dents along the chainstay
but i wont feel bad having to drop it over some dirt
i might take the rear wheel back to the raw alloy , the orange and blue was for another colour combo i had last year but for this one i think the ally would be better
im going to have to push the bars forward too
its a kinda aqua colour
s&m race forks
fsa headset
redneck
pro race bars
dmr wondercups
fsa carbon/titanium bottom bracket
sugino cranks in 170mm that i forgot i had
42 tooth ring
orange original dmr pedals
odyssey evo 2 brake
quando sealed hub with cheapo rim
cheap front wheel ( £8 )
i forgot i had the tensioner
cheap tyres that might get changed tommorow
i have an odyssey seat and clamp but i remembered i dont have a post the right size
( 22.2
? seems familiar for some reason )

i certainly wont be changing anything about this one
its a shame about the dropouts but hey ho , its over 10 years old after all
itl stay this spec for a while i guess as i cant justify constantly buying parts
it would look great with my blue chris king off my kona but id rather it was on the kona
im going to stop seeking out parts but if something nice gets offered to me cheap
i doubt a seat / post / lever / cable will make much difference but its weight feels just so right , nice and solid without being too much

funky, i like it,
the drops will neaten up a bit, theyre not too bad
stem is cool, so's the kooky back wheel!
but how many fooking cats have you got dude???!!!
ps, i've got a "glut" of seats at the mo if you need one

i think they were done hastily and without much care as they arnt straight , a round/half round file wasnt used at the end so its square and theres a little notch where the guy slipped with his grinder
the wheel goes a kinda pinky peach when it spins quick enough
i was given the stem in about 98 as my mates bars kept slipping , hasnt slipped once for me
only 3 cats , about 5 snakes , 2 geckos and a few other strange lizards , the pets are the mrs thing , she has a habit of buying them too much stuff
is it 22.2 i need to ask for in the shop tommorow ?

That looks great, a lovely little bike. Me and DSD were watching that on Ebay. Glad that its gone to a good home.
Im not to sure about the rear wheel. What kind of bike was it on that needed spokey dokeys?
The stem is great. Its one of the first clamp on rednecks with the very sharp edges.
Are the cranks square taper spindle? Ive had nothing but trouble when Ive tried to fit ally cranks and square spindles to a BMX. They just cant take it. I hope you have better luck, but they have got to be top of the list to change.
22.2mm is the size of most OS seatposts. I think that when the dirtbike went up to "Oversized" the seatpost changed to 1 inch (25.4mm).

pokey dokes are great fun
unless they are left to fling around on the spoke , i used to drive people crazy with the constant ting ting ting ting at slow speeds , people would always look at their bikes like bits were falling off
ill have to strip it back , the pads will wear the edge and itl lose the check effect so i think an all alloy will be better
i know of a guy with a redneck in gold , ive never seen the clamp ons in gold and its imaculate but i doubt he will let it go and i dont need another stem anyway lol
yep square taper , ive never broken a bottom bracket , not even years ago when i was doing 8ft drops to flat so these should hopefully be fine , ive never gotten on with tubular steel arms , hurt my ankles tooo much lol
the only cranks ive ever broken were some 24/7 cranks that cracked at the weld ( very badly made ) and i stripped the thread out of a powerbite arm before they went with the steel insert , bt i was dong a lot of pedl grinds with those
ive tried all the posts i have and they are far too big so ill give 22.2 a go

Maybe you should have started a "riders bikes and their old Fords" thread.
Here's my mate Crowman, his S&M, and his Escort.
He has a Mk3 Tina too but its very much in bits at the moment.

those photos would be by gazza for the retroford photoshoot you were in
didnt know that ones yours , you only mentioned an xr2
i remember morley telling me about that mex before it went to print , he was trying to get me to use mercedes satin black for my grille and light surrounds instead of the matt black i already had
i wonder if the osf lot has stopped slating me yet
ive been thinking of making my camper all satin black with some repro 7"rs 4 spokes highly polshed and some gold detailing , just wish i had a garage to do it in

yea they're from the retro ford mag feature, got all the pics on disk.
the tracking pic was took by the photographer hanging out of the window of an evo7!!!
the mk1 xr is a recent addition to the garage, bit of a hospital job though!!!

nice
is that with the old ford lot ? that was fun a few years ago when it was still small , morley with his slow burning bbq
i probably wont be camping as i now live quite close , well close enough to get there in half hour when i had my mk1
and i wasnt even driving , i had a mate drive . i took it on the strip a couple times and got him to drive back
i havnt told the missus were going yet though

i dont think anyone minds
mrs asked earlier if were going to any car shows this year
thats a decent time for a pinto
i have changed a few things actually
took it out and it turned out the left hand crank arm was bent
shouldave spotted it while fitting
i changed it for a spare but i going to bulwell this sunday and i can spin the 42 tooth out far tooo easily so the only other option was to use my shimano lx cranks which dont look so good but at least they are a pedal friendly 44t
cut the rear axle down so it doesnt catch on people passing me
changed the rh lever to the lh i had and gave it a bit of a bend and changed the tyres to some cheap comp 3 copys
just needs to stop raining so i can get out on it
