That sounds far too much to me. I sent Dansharos a complete FS880 brakeset last week and they cost me about £15 to send (insured) - yours should cost between £15 to £20 (insured and tracked), i guess. Try and get it tracked (airsure) so the guy at the other end can't turn around and say it didn't turn up. Your best bet is to wrap it up in it's box/jiffy and take it to the Post Office for an estimate next time you're there.
I also had to send a Haro Master f+f to the States a couple of weeks ago and that cost me £70 (without tracking)
