z rim prob
« on: January 10, 2008, 08:49 PM »
Hi there

getting closer to the finishing line with this ta. Just bought some z rim blanks, dating back to 82. They seem very nice apart from a bit of a buckle. Does anyone know if they straighten up when spoked or should I stick them in the freezer!

Cheers Doug

You should be able to get them pretty straight when spoked up  :daumenhoch:

yes if you warm them up before and just before lacing they will pull up perfect.

How difficult is it to lace the wheels and what tools are needed. Cheers

Just need the correct spoke tool to re lace - your need a jig to true them - i borrow my local bike shops for the weekend - i found doing a set of z's easy until it came to trueing them - that took a bit longer and a bit of patience. Mine were in a state and they came up perfect with a bit of time investment.

I laced mine using a 4 cross pattern - many will be done in a 3 x pattern.

I followed the online - g sport tutorial - was perfect - just take your time and go steady - make sure you get no interruptions when lacing them.

Good luck - any probs just pm me.
