Which Crank for Delta Restore
« on: November 11, 2007, 04:52 PM »

So which crank would suit my Firebird Delta rebuild?  :-\

The f&f were never top end so I'm not really looking to put top end cranks on like Redlines, and the Sugino 3pc that Vertigo has, are on loads of mid-end rebuilds, so I'm looking for something different. Preferably 3pc. Go to be chrome.

Any suggestions?

I'm in the middle of building up a Delta II, going down the one piece route. As you say not the sort of frameset to have flights.
What you got planned for it, don't see many :)

Yep, a Sugino 1pc like Biagio has would be nice.  It wouldn't look right with alloy 3-piece cranks like Suntour VX or Sugino GT or CT.  1pc with a nice set of DX pedals would be just right  :daumenhoch:

OPC, this was one of my 1st builds...

It's well gone now, but it was a very well made frame set...  I've never seen another.

Thanks everyone. That's a lovely build RB.

One piece looks the favourite. :daumenhoch:

b45t4rd - planning something simple. All chrome or silver. I've got some uncoloured araya aero's and just bought some Renthal bars that should arrive next week. What's yours looking like?

The f&f has just been sent to Doug Taylor for a re-chrome. Bought it off phantom photon a while back.

PP - is it a Delta or a Delta2. I've never known what the difference is?

It's been a long time getting some of the parts, but it's at last coming together.  :)

Mines a Delta II like Ron B's above^^^^^^^^ :)
Gusset at headtube means regular "Firebird"
Chrome & black for me.
Ron, were the decals original on yours? Need the delta II one, Del has sorted me out the rest. :daumenhoch:

Yes, I bought the frame and forks from a bike shop, it was NOS :daumenhoch:

Yep, mines a Delta rather than a II.

Del should be able to sort you with the Delta II decal. We worked on the Firebird repro's together. Can't wait to see them on the bike.

Ron - what sort of bike shop do you go to? Was it just lying around at the back of the shop?  :LolLolLolLol:
