Barnehurst BMX track meeting today at 4pm
« on: November 02, 2007, 08:29 AM »
If anyone is close to the old Barnehurst track today and can lend some support by popping over preferably with a bike.
The Kentish times newspaper will be there at 4pm to write an article and take some pics, with a view to kickstarting a campaign to renovate the track.

Call me on 07903 607161 if you need directions or info etc.

So far Me OSSqueen, MaddMat, Sharon, Nic, Chloe and Trev will be there :daumenhoch:

cheeres Tony

I was at Barnhurst track the day the first JCB turned up and continued to go there throughout, last time i went was a few years back.

Tony i think the biggest problem with the location is the lack of parking. The old access road no longer exists. Good luck though mate, i'll be there in spirit.  :daumenhoch:

ang on it ain't nsr i'll have a look through the member list. :-\

we only found out recently, and tbh it wasnt until last night we made the decision to go ::)

Even if they open the track back up as a play track, it can only be good :daumenhoch:

What happened at barnehurst yesterday then?
I used to ride there occasionally, used to spend more time down the bottom of the hill jumping the mud quarter pipe looking thing.

It was a shame, but the reporter turned up dead on 3.30pm spent less than 5 minutes talking then left, we got there at 3.45 and he had gone. There must have been 30 kids arrive after he left. Little Josh managed to face plant the first jump :-\ Apparently the council go over regularly and dig any jumps out and leave bloody great holes in it, this is apparently to stop kids riding it, trouble is little kids still ride it and fall off cos of the twats from the council.
I took a few pics and I will try and post them later

There's a half page piece in the freebie Bexley Extra.  Anyone wanting to help should contact Stephen Lawrence at stephen.lawrence643@ntlworld.com according to the article.  Humps
