Do they have 'Shinko' embossed on the sidewall?

I got a pair of white GT logo tyres like that when they were quite new. They were for my 14th birthday and they cost £14 for the pair. That was in April 1985. I dont know if the pair i got were exactly the same, Im not up with the tiny differenced in GT tyres.

The first ones were made by Shinko Rubber Company and it will be embossed on the sidewall.

Date wise, I know Shinko made the GT tyres from at least April '84, but I'm not sure when the manufacturer changed (sometime in 86 or 87, I'll try and find out).

Appears it was late '86 - production changed to Tiawan (from Shinko in Japan). If your tyres are made in Tiawan then they're late '86 onwards and are race tyres

white ones appear in the 86 brochure - black only in the 84 brochure - haven't got the 85 brochure but im guessing thats when they would have 1st appeared

Moose - give me ya email and i'll send ya the pdf file - i cant remember were i downloaded it from  - its quiet a large file 3.4meg but its a good quality scan although its a pro performer scan as opposed to a full GT brochure

Ahh - I have the Pro Performer test already. Would love to see an '84 brochure though, thanks anyway
