Is this the correct position for my decals?
« on: September 11, 2007, 08:20 PM »
Has anyone else had a tantrum whilst applying decals?

Picked my frame up from superbike dan the man today and was excited to get it built, i put that decal on four times before screaming C_NT at the top of my voice, screwing it up and throwing it across the room. Intelligent i know........

Anyone know where i can get another?

You might want to read this thread too before trying again; it might save a second decal  :daumenhoch:

Isnt there some trick where you spray the frame with soapy water first. This stops the decal from sticking straight away and it is able to slip about on the tube. Once in the right place, you just leave it over night and its all stuck down.

I dont know if it works, I just read it somewhere.

I think they're foil backed... just be carefull with foil backed decals, some of them dont like a wet application.

to be honest you should be ok, its not like they;ll be out in the rain all time. I just dont apply any mirror type vinyl wet but I'm talking vinyl signs which are outside all the time.

i've used both dry and wet methods in the past,

wet works better and theres less risk of getting dirt/fingerprints/general shit under the sticker,

i'm no expert like but i will say this,

if you have to put them on dry, make sure your hands and properly clean and definitely put them on BEFORE you build the bike,

if youre really worried about marking them when you build it you could always mask them up,

that way you can get around the frame easier and put you eye down the tubes to make sure theyre aligned ok, you can position the frame, rather than working "around the bike"

i feel for you with the streetbeat sticker like, harshness right there dude, esp if its an original, my hands were shaking putting the challenger decal on the downtube :LolLolLolLol:
alot of time and effort can be spent just finding these old kits,

best of luck with the next one :daumenhoch:
