I bought this headset at great cost but when i just tried to fit the top stationary cup it seems too big it will only go in lop sided. I have not tried the bottom as i dont want to damage the finish. Im not sure if these are hard to fit maybe i need to try harder. The sizes on the box says cup o.d 32.7 & crown cone i.d.26.4 can anyone shed any light please.

Is the frame powdered? If so, then dremel the inside of the tube. Also put the cups in the freezer for an hour, then try inserting them, works every time for me

The frame is original chrome but i dont want to bash the cups in if there the wrong size can anyone confirm that this SHOULD fit then i can get to work freezing them & bashing them in $:-\$

Have you measured it against a normal cup? If these is a significant difference then dont try, but I know that the cups and frame tubes are not constant and hammer fit does seem to be used a lot of the time. use a tiny bit of grease in the frame when you fit it

I did compere them to the ones i took out & there was maybe a minimal size difference hard to tell because of the shamfer on the tange cup but it certantly wasnt a significant difference

Then I would try the freezer, when I have done it in the past, they slide in sweetly with minimal hammering......
If you can borrow a vernier gauge then you can accurately check the diameters first if you need re assurance

I know i know the seat dont match the forks are wrong (im picking some forks up at mk) & my 1/2 inch skyway pedals dont fit nor do i have a spindle & bb for my flight 400,s not to mention that the chain ring is not nos but im afraid im fast running out of time

Ive notice a few bikes appearing with non stock decals & designs & wanted to build a skyway using just black & silver/chrome parts. but then the blue & red decals ruined the color scheme so i got Del off here to do me some custom decals & the result is what you see. I like it do you ? im bringing it to MK just to have a ride around im not gonna race it or show it as its not finished. Firebird also said he can make me a matching padset but time & money are not on my side at the mo bit gutted but hey i will finish it maybe not in time for mk but i will

Some people wont like it cus they think old school should be built as era correct but i like these custom designs like the yellow skyway that was for sale on here recently.

The way I look at it though is that i'm building the bikes for me, if no-one else likes it, then fook em.

Where's your chrome shim on the headset. You haven't put that on and it needs to be there.
