gt pro would really nice, early powerlite, ghp, redline, goose, skyway there are loads n loads it just depends on yer budget. i reckon a nice redline would probably be the strongest tho, ratty or ron burgundy would be the best to quiz on suitable redlines

also look at mid school bikes

late 80's or into the 90's
good size frames and most are OS racing legal ie no canti or 1 1/8 th headsets
and relatively cheap

very nearly the best of both worlds
cheers Kev

i agree with the midschool choice, early mid school with threaded forks n no cantis, robbo, gt, boss, elf, tnt, se, free agent etc etc loads of exotica to choose from and a little different from the norm and bargains to be had :daumenhoch:

Find the longest toptube you can if you want to ride it on a regular basis , the Hyper (toptube 20.5 or 21") that I used to own that Dingo has is a good option and I think he was only wanting about £60-£70 recently for the F+F !  ;) ( and it's OS race compliant if you want to race it ) .

The RS1 is not a bad start,it's longer than the earlier bikes 20.5tt(I think) instead of 18.5tt and they're readily available....
It really is up to the individual though.Nostalgia vs Style vs Practicality...
If you're not used to 20" try a cruiser, especially if you're cycling for any distance...They're great.

I believe alansare doing some cheap haro group 1's OS compatible, according to hunterdogger. They are a real nice frame and forks although cruisers are a lot slower and easier to handle IMHO.

What Matt said makes a lot of sense!! Go for as long a top tube as you can, ideally 21", do have a look at the Mid school bikes, Russ "fiolas Lovechild" has an anniversary Redline PL20, old school legal but loads stronger then My PL20, with very similar geometry, I love my PL20 but its not handling the abuse very well, and I have to retire it soon :'(

Why not get yourself along to an OS race and blag a few gos on different machines, The GTs are a great bike :daumenhoch:

Thats a very cool GT Gashead. If not for our crappy dollar I'd think about that one for myself.
